Basic DIY checklist

  • Measure the simple rectangular room and buy flooring with the selected waste allowance.
  • Remove old flooring if needed and clean the room thoroughly.
  • Check that the subfloor is clean, dry, flat, and within the flooring tolerance.
  • Confirm the existing subfloor is dry and suitable for floating LVP.
  • Confirm whether your flooring or subfloor requires a moisture barrier.
  • Confirm attached underlayment is acceptable for your room.
  • Lay planks with expansion gaps, stagger joints, cut edges cleanly, and install transitions or trim pieces as selected.
