This tool is for installing or replacing one bathroom sink faucet in the same location only. It does not include replacing the vanity, replacing the sink, moving plumbing, replacing shutoff valves, repairing drain pipes inside the wall, countertop drilling, electrical work, major plumbing work, or professional labor. Real costs can change based on local prices, faucet type, sink hole setup, existing faucet condition, shutoff valve condition, drain condition, access under the sink, tool needs, and cleanup.

Measurement system

One bathroom sink faucet in the same location

Estimate installing or replacing one bathroom sink faucet in the same location only. This does not include replacing the vanity, replacing the sink, moving plumbing, replacing shutoff valves, repairing drain pipes inside the wall, countertop drilling, electrical work, major plumbing work, or professional labor.

This assumes the sink and vanity stay in place and the faucet connects to the existing hot, cold, and drain locations.

Project planning note

Review the selected options, site condition, material assumptions, and tool needs before buying supplies. This calculator is meant for rough DIY planning, not a professional quote.

Leak-check note

After installation, run hot and cold water for a few minutes, fill and drain the sink, and check the faucet base, supply line connections, pop-up drain, trap, and cabinet floor. Recheck after 30 to 60 minutes and again after normal use.

Recommended materials/tools

  • Basic centerset faucet allowance
  • Pop-up drain assembly allowance included
  • New hot and cold water supply lines
  • Plumber's putty or silicone sealant allowance
  • Bucket, towels or rags, gloves, cleaning supplies, and small install supplies
  • Basic plumbing tool allowance included, including a basin wrench or similar under-sink tool

Basic DIY checklist

  • Confirm the new faucet matches the sink hole setup before buying or opening the faucet box.
  • Shut off hot and cold water and test that the faucet stops flowing before disconnecting anything.
  • Disconnect supply lines and remove old mounting hardware carefully from below the sink.
  • Remove the old pop-up drain, clean the drain opening, and install the new drain assembly.
  • Install the faucet, connect supply lines without kinking them, and tighten fittings carefully.
  • Run water, check hot and cold operation, then inspect every connection for leaks.

When to call a pro

  • Call a pro if the shutoff valves or supply fittings feel brittle, corroded, or unsafe to move.
  • Call a pro for replacing shutoff valves, moving plumbing, repairing drain pipes inside the wall, countertop drilling, electrical work, or major plumbing work.
